Mint Tea With Honey & Red Dates

Not long ago, I bought a mint plant from Sungai Buloh, Selangor and it’s been growing pretty vigorously in my garden. And it excites me just to have the opportunity to make food or drink using the fresh herbs from my garden. Ya know? I even caught my dog eating mint and smelling the rosemary, thyme and dill. Haha

Mint from my garden. 🙂 Wash and drain it.

Red Dates
Using a knife, carefully de-seed the red dates. From this picture, top to bottom are un-pitted red dates, pitted red dates and the seeds.

Simmer For 5 minutes
Bring water to boil and simmer mint and red dates for 5 minutes. Turn off heat and steep for 10 minutes. Add honey and stir well to incorporate. That’s it.

Mint Tea With Honey & Red Dates
A simple warm soothing drink. Don’t discard the red dates. Eat it. It’s delicious!

Once I uses 12g and another time I uses 20g of mints, however the drinks doesn’t have strong mint taste but more red dates/honey flavors which is good enough for me. Try it ya.

Tip: Mint helps to calm nerves, ease headaches, toothaches and reduce phlegm.

Thankfully mine only tried the mint once if not headache… goat dog. Hehe
Got the thyme from Sungai Buloh. It’s a hardy plant so I didn’t really care for it except picking (harvest) on its leaves once a while. Sometime I place it in the sun but mostly it remains in the shade.

I have been trying to grow mint in my garden but somehow so far unsuccessful and I am not sure why because others herbs seems growing perfect.

This is a wonderful and soothing drink esp when our weather can be a killer. I must try making this esp with the dates and sip into this drink.

Hmm maybe the soil is the problem?
