Chuan Kee Hakka Restaurant @ Cheras, Kuala Lumpur


Over the weekend, my dad brought us to Chuan Kee Hakka Restaurant in Pudu Ulu, Cheras. We reached there around 6.30pm and the place is already packed! Upon entering the restaurant, a musky smell filled up my nostril (even my sis sensed it) but thank god the smell disappeared after that.

Tsk, pictures taken weren’t the best. With yellow light and red cloth table = Argghh.

Here’s our order:

Stir-Fried Sweet Potato Leaves with Fermented Bean Curd @ Chuan Kee Hakka Restaurant
Stir-fried sweet potato leaves with fermented bean curd. Super nice! My mom said it was a little ‘old’ but I thought it was okay.

Steamed 'Soon' Fish Head with Ginger @ Chuan Kee Hakka Restaurant
Steamed ‘Soon’ fish head with ginger. Well, they overcooked the fish as the meat was quite rubbery. Ahh too bad.

Yong Tau Fu @ Chuan Kee Hakka Restaurant
Yong Tau Fu. You can’t go to a Hakka restaurant and not order yong tau fu you know? Haha I only ate the fried bean curd and half piece of stuffed-chili. Like it! Even the soup is perfect.


Braised Pork Belly with Yam @ Chuan Kee Hakka Restaurant
Pork belly with yam (wu tau kau yoke in Cantonese). This is the best one. The sauce was super yummy. The pork and yam were cooked to perfection.

The 4 dishes = RM61.00
Rice + tea = RM7.70

Total = RM68.70 (not bad)

All in all, I’m satisfied with my dinner here except for the fish. Willing to give them a second chance though. Haha

Once you reach this restaurant, you’ll notice the road is quite narrow as this is the old part of town. As to where to park, there’s an open car park a little down the road (parking RM2). I was surprised to see 2 ladies taking care of this car park. Wow!

    Wonderful pork belly what more with yam, I can imagine how delicious the taste would have been because both is my fav.
