Because of our non-satisfactory meal at Yut Kee Restaurant, we went hunting for a good eatery around Kuala Lumpur. Ipoh Road Yong Tow Foo came to mind and off we went to this humble yong tau fu restaurant which we have frequented many times over the years.
Many years back it used to be located at Ipoh Road hence the restaurant name but its current location is at Segambut Road.
Large menu signboard. Basically they offer 11 types of yong tau fu including paper wrap chicken. You can eat order rice to accompany your yong tau fu.
Fill in the type of yong tau fu and quantity you want on the order form.
Our order of assorted yong tau fu. The yong tau fu are fresh, seasoned well and the broth is awesome. The soup on the left is nice too. Coupled with sweet sauce and chili sauce… the yong tau fu is heaven!
We tapau-ed the paper wrap chicken since we’re already full . The paper wrap chicken or chee pau kai in Cantonese is magnificent! Aromatic and well-seasoned. You feel you can fly after taking a bite basically. Haha
If you prefer outdoor seating, they have it too! Btw, notice the little stall on the left?
That little stall makes this SUPER delicious tauhu bakar (grilled beancurd with shrimp sauce).
Amazing tauhu bakar, the best I’ve eaten yet. It’s so crunchy and again well-seasoned. All the ingredients combine wonderfully. Wow!
Besides tauhu bakar, they also sell rojak (food and vegetable salad in shrimp sauce) which I have yet to try. Because the tauhu bakar is so good I ordered 2 more servings, one to eat there and another for takeaway.
The making of tauhu bakar. What’s your secret lady boss? 🙂
With signboard this big, this restaurant is surely hard to miss. It’s located by the main road. Parking is not bad, just don’t attempt it during peak hours. E.g. lunch and dinner time.
As good as these food taste and sounds, I got real thirsty after that. Arggh msg! Hahaha
