Korean BBQ Seoul Garden Restaurant @ Bukit Tinggi, Klang – closed

Note: This branch has closed down.

We treated our mom at Korean BBQ Seoul Garden Restaurant on Mother’s Day. It was perfect as mom is a Korean dramas fanatic. Haha Actually we had eyed this restaurant for quite sometime but never really have the chance to try it out yet. So this is ideal.

Korean BBQ Seoul Garden Restaurant is situated on the 1st floor of a corner shop lot. While climbing up the stairs, we caught the aromas of Korean food… Mmmmmm ahhhhhh!

Banchan @ Korean BBQ Seoul Garden Restaurant
Banchan ꡬ첩 (9 cheop/side dishes)

Once we stepped foot in this restaurant we were greeted with the familiar Anyong-Haseyo by the owner cum manager of the restaurant who is a Korean. I turned to my sister and both of us acknowledged this is an authentic Korean restaurant. Yes even the cooks and waiters are Koreans. πŸ™‚

The place was jam-packed, lively, noisy and chaotic. LOL We were asked to wait while they were clearing up the tables. Waiters and even the manger were seen running up and down to serve hungry customers. Oh yeah it was that busy!

The banchan; 9 side dishes…

Clockwise L-R: Mini pancake?, seaweed, salad, sigeumchi namul (spinach)

Fermented Something @ Korean BBQ Seoul Garden Restaurant
This last banchan dish tasted like jelly fish. We have no idea what this is. I’m guessing it’s some sort of kimchi/fermented dish. Can anyone help to identify this dish?

Bibimbap @ Korean BBQ Seoul Garden Restaurant
Bibimbap @ RM15.00. Very delicious. πŸ™‚

Haemul Pajeon or Green Onion Seafood Pancake @ Korean BBQ Seoul Garden Restaurant
Haemul pajeon or green onion seafood pancake @ RM25.00. Love this dish a lot.

Galbi @ Korean BBQ Seoul Garden Restaurant
Galbi or marinated pork in soy sauce @ RM25.00. Super yummy. Very moist and flavorful. Remember to dip the pork with the spicy Korean condiment and garlic provided. It was heavenly!

Samgyeopsal @ Korean BBQ Seoul Garden Restaurant
Samgyeopsal or grilled pork belly meat @ RM25.00. A little dry.

To eat Galbi and samgyeopsal, take a little of the meat with some banchan and wrap them in lettuce. Remember to dip the savory sauce and add garlic. The result: SLURPPPPPPIEEEE!!!!!!!

Too bad we didn’t have the chance to cook our meal with the BBQ stove.

Rice + green tea @ RM15.00

Total bill: RM115.50 (for 4 persons)

If you want to taste authentic Korean cuisine then this is the place.
Can’t wait for my next visit. Plan to bring my grandma there. πŸ™‚

    Hi,

the dish that has jellyfish texture is called “mook.” It’s a type of jelly made with buckwheat, acorn, mung beans. It’s supposed to be super healthy because it’s made with just one ingredient!(if you don’t count water)

Hello Laura, thanks for info. I like ‘mook’ πŸ™‚

The banchan what you suppose jelly fish is wrong.Actually , that is “water chestnut jelly”, one of the famous item of korean side dishes.

Hi Robert, another commentator Laura told me it’s mook. Now I’m not sure which is which. This dish was served to us as banchan.

Wow! The price is exorbitant….but expected-lah because it’s Korean food.

    • Reply Che-Cheh July 11, 2011 at 1:16 pm

Yup the prices are like that for Korean food. You get free flow of banchan. So it’s not bad.

Hi, I took your good food review and visited the shop in bukit Tinggi. I’m truly disappointed with everything, from the environment, workers, food etc. All I can say is that your photography skills are great that you managed to make everything look so nice when they are not. The waiting area is rundown and furnitures not well kept, not as pretty as your picture. The workers has no uniform, and for your update, we don’t have a long que on Sunday night. Plenty of seats available. This place is definately no comparison to Daorae in Hartamas. And the pricing are about the same. I will surely not return to this place again.

Hi Tanya, I appreciate your time visiting the restaurant and leaving a comment here.

Food tasting is a subjective topic. How our taste-buds perceive food is what makes us likes or dislikes a certain things. And how our brain perceive environment, colors, designs, etc are subjective too. That’s what makes each of us unique as human being. We are of the same kind but we have our own perception. πŸ™‚ There are no right or wrong. What I like may not be what you like and vice versa.

The one you visited may not be Seoul Garden, it has since been taken over by Seoul Palace, I think most people like you didn’t realise the difference.
There’s no longer a Seoul Garden restaurant in Bkt Tinggi Klang.

Hi Connie, ahh ic. Thanks for letting me know. I haven’t visited them for more than a year already.

Update: I just went there for dinner April 2012. The place has 2 names: Seoul Garden and Seoul Palace. The boss is still the same person.

Hi Lee, if I’m not mistaken they do serve chicken. Ginseng chicken I think. However it’s better to call them to confirm.
