Where else to sample authentic Tuscan cuisine if not Pisa and Florence?! We were in Pisa for a visit to the Leaning Tower of Pisa back in May. Antica Trattoria Il Campano is one of the many dining places that serve Tuscan food in Pisa, Italy. Trattoria means Italian-style eating establishment, less formal than a ristorante (source wiki). It’s located not far from our lodging at Pensione Rinascente.
Crostoni ai moscardini ubriachi al Sangiovese (Baby octopus cooked in Sangiovese wine with tomato, chili, garlic and parsley) @ €6.00. Like the way they cook the baby octopus however the bread is a little tough. This is an antipasti.
Ditali coi ceci e ‘na punta di guanciale (Homemade pasta chickpeas with rosemary and bacon) @ €8.00. I L.O.V.E this pasta dish. The addition of bacon makes the dish very appetizing. Would prefer the quantity to be larger though.
Aqua @ €1.50
Wine (1 glass) @ €3.00
There’s a 10% service charge.
Total dinner cost €19.90.
All in all it was a pleasant dinner for me. My sis however did not favour it. *chuckles
A cute restaurant tuck in the corner near the market place.
