Seoul Tookbegi Korean Restaurant @ Russell Street, Melbourne CBD – closed

Note: This shop has closed down.

On day 2 of my Melbourne trip, we had our dinner at Seoul Tookbegi Korean Restaurant. I was craving for rice “already” and bibimbap seem to be a good choice. Besides we were dragging our legs back to the hostel and passing by this restaurant was a savior to us (for our taste buds and tired legs that is).

Dolsot Bibimbap @ Seoul Tookbegi Korean Restaurant, Melbourne CBD
Dolsot Bibimbap @ AUD15.00. Dolsot means stone pot.

We asked for pork instead of beef. Mix everything in the bowl and wait a little while for the pork & egg to be cooked.

Love everything about this dish. The rice is awesome and so is the pork and spicy sauce.

Banchan @ Seoul Tookbegi Korean Restaurant, Melbourne CBD
5 Banchan (side dishes); kimchi, bean sprouts, pickled cabbage, curry potatoes & spicy sliced fish cakes.

Though there are only us and another customer (maybe it’s too early; 5.40pm for dinner!), I did enjoyed my meal tremendously. The authenticity of the Korean cuisine is there.

One word of caution though is that the portion is fairly large for us Asian ladies. And we ‘stupidly’ ordered 2 set of bibimbap. Haha Kudos to the restaurant for providing takeaway containers. I guess we should have ordered 1 of that and another side dish.
