Paris Cooking & Baking Supplies Stores

Coming to Paris for holiday I knew I gotta pay a visit to at least one cooking supplies store here. I had E.Dehillerin in mind, a very old and famous kitchen and pastry utensils store recommended by David Lebovitz. When we attended the macaron class @ La Cuisine Paris, Chef G introduces several additional stores to us fellow students which are located at 1st arrondissement of Paris very near to Les Halles area which also happened to be where E.Dehillerin is located.

E. Dehillerin @ Paris, France
After our visit to Château de Versaille the next day in the afternoon, we went on a cooking supplies hunt. It was fun and tiring and we spent the whole afternoon visit and re-visit 5-6 notable cooking supplies stores suggested.

I’m gonna describe my experience at E. Dehillerin more as I think this store is very unique. It doesn’t have the so called modern decoration, the place is old, a little dusty with narrow aisles (always people-jam!). Not all items have prices on it. So you either refer to the thick price list (there are thousands of items!!!) hanging by the shelves or you ask somebody for help. We did both and of course asking for help is faster and better. The salesperson is always smiling and ready to help you.

Copper Pots, Pans & Bakewares @ E. Dehillerin, Paris, France
E. Dehillerin is famed for its copper pots and pans. Wish I can buy one home. I bet they’re expensive.

Melon Scooper @ E. Dehillerin, Paris, France
Melon scooper anyone?

Whisks @ E. Dehillerin, Paris, France
Many sizes of whisks. Take your pick.

Ramekins @ E. Dehillerin, Paris, France
Thought of buying ’em ramekin but I got questioned by my sis… “Why do you want to buy it here? We have it in Malaysia la!” Haha

Round Dough Basket @ E. Dehillerin, Paris, France
Sis wanted to get these bread dough baskets (the one on the left called Banneton proofing basket) but they are so expensive. Over RM100 for a basket. Urggh! That’s the standard price for dough baskets.

Our purchases at E. Dehillerin came with 10% discount courtesy of the E. Dehillerin discount card given by La Cuisine Paris. Yipee!

After E. Dehillerin, we head to Mora, La Bovida, A. Simon and G. Detou. My next favorite store is definitely G. Detou which sell food products like mustard, jam, spices, nuts, chocolates, salt and so much more. There are so many things I wanted to buy at G. Detou, I only managed all that I’ve listed below… too bad I don’t live in Paris. Parisians you’re so lucky!

Here’s what we bought during our ‘hunt’:
1. Baguette pan – €9.92 (after 10% discount, E.Dehillerin)
2. Exoglas spatula – €4.72 (after 10% discount, E.Dehillerin)
3. Flat brush – €2.55 (Mora)
4. Macaron silicon baking mat – €14.10 (Mora)
5. Exopat silicon baking mat – €13.75 (Mora)
6. Silicon baking mat with measurement – €29.50 (Mora)
7. Sugar grains (nib sugar/pearl sugar) 1kg – €2.50 (G. Detou)
8. Fleur de Sel De Guerande 500g – €6.35 (G. Detou)
9. Herbs de Provence 260g – €2.00 (G. Detou)
10. Pistachio paste 150g – €11.00 (G. Detou)
11. Vanilla pods Bourbon 8pcs – €6.50 (G. Detou)

13. Kacinkoa dark chocolate by Weiss – €2.60 (G. Detou)
