Steamed Pumpkin For Dogs

I’m someone that rarely feed special food to my dog. And if I do I make sure I give him the healthy option since his daily meal consist of dry kibbles (= processed food). Steamed pumpkin is a good example of healthy food. Pumpkin has good source of essential fatty acids, antioxidants, beta-carotene and vitamin A & B. It also cure your dog’s constipation and diarrhea problem.

Why go for canned pumpkin when you can make your own in under 1/2 hour? After all canned pumpkin is still categorize as processed food. 😉

Remove Pumpkin Skin
First thing first, de-seed the pumpkin and remove the skin. Then cut into cube and place on a steaming plate.

Ready For Steaming
Add finely chopped garlic on the pumpkin and steam for about 20-25 minutes or until soft. Strain the steaming water from the pumpkin. Then mash with a fork, let it cool and feed to your dog. Keep the rest in fridge.

In large amount, garlic is toxic for dog but small amount of garlic will do wonder such as fighting bacteria/fungal infections, lower blood cholesterol, improve liver function and also as a natural repellent for tick/flea.

I don’t have scientific evidence that garlic will repel tick/flea but I’ve seen ’em working for my dog.
