I knew I wanted to try patbingsu when I visited Korea. So when I was in Jeonju on day 7 of my South Korea trip, I visited a patbingsu shop by the name of Grandma’s Best or 외할머니솜씨 (Oe Halmeoni Somssi). Loosely translated it means grandma’s skill. The shop is actually ‘again’ recommended by my hanok host, Mr Lee. Even though this is my very first time eating patbingsu, I got a feeling that this might be the very best patbingsu in the whole of Korea. 😉
For those who do not know, patibingsu is shaved ice with sweet red beans. It’s some sort of like ice kacang (Malaysian sweet dessert) but 10x yummier. Hehehe
Seating area are aplenty but they look quite narrow overall.
Order is taken at the counter. Unfortunately menu is in Korean. So for those who doesn’t know how to read Hangeul, just shout to the young lady ‘patbingsu e ge!’ (1 bowl of patbingsu).
Patbingsu @ 7,000 won (RM21.00). It contains finely shaved ice, sweet red beans, chewy rice cakes and black sesame seed powder. The combination is just heavenly! This large bowl is just enough for me and my sis.
I would do anything to go back there again for a bowl of super delicious patbingsu!!! Do give them a try if you ever visit Jeonju Hanok Village.

Shouting that would be hella rude. “Patbingsu hana joo se yo.”
Still dreaming about this patbingsu after 3 years.
