We were looking for a place to have our lunch around Subang Jaya area last weekend. Bak Kut Teh? nah. Chicken rice? nope. Porridge? no. Ulu Yam loh mee? okie! okie!

The place:

Hong Ling Restaurant @ Subang Jaya

Large & clear signboard. You won’t miss it.

First to show you an interesting drink.

F&N Authentic 3 Layers Tea

It’s called F&N Authentic 3 Layers Tea. It’s not mine but I heard it’s very good. The 3 layers consist of tea, evaporated milk & palm sugar.

Ulu Yam Loh Mee @ Hong Ling Restaurant

Ulu Yam Loh Mee @ RM10.
Fyi, Ulu Yam is a town in Selangor which is fame for its loh mee.
This particular loh mee from Hong Ling Restaurant has a peculiar taste. It’s an acquired taste. Not everyone will like it. Must be the vinegar.

Singapore Mee Hoon @ Hong Ling Restaurant

Singapore Mee Hoon @ RM10. Also with a peculiar taste but I like it a lot. The bean sprouts definitely light up the dish.

As there’s only 3 of us, 2 noodle dishes is just right. But there are plenty more dishes we missed out. Definitely will visit them again.

yeah, loh mee is somewhat a scary choice, especially those outlets that serve them with too much vinegar.
and too starchy ones.

btw, the Teh C Special, a sarawak’s specialty, is one of the best concoction out there.

Hi J2Kfm, scary choice as in you will never know what you’re gonna get eh. Hehe. This loh mee from Hong Ling is not too starchy. Just right. It’s the vinegar taste that is weird.

I don’t often drink Teh or Coffee. I’ll try it based on your recommendation. :)

I went for bak kut teh with some friends in Subang last week and guess what? It was just 2 or 3 doors away from this loh meen stall. Did not get a chance to eat there as my friends weren’t keen on that. Another time!!
