Delicious Dim Sum @ The Han Room, The Gardens, Kuala Lumpur

My dad treated us to dim sum at the The Han Room over the weekend during Chinese New Year. According to him the dim sum here is so much better than Tim Ho Wan, Malaysia. Having shopped at The Gardens Mall many times, this was my first encounter with The Han Room. We ordered a total of 12 varieties of dim sum with 16 plates in total because for some dim sum, we order 2 plates since there are five of us (not including are 3 bowls of dessert).

Dim Sum @ The Han Room, The Gardens, KL
Two titbits for us to enjoy while waiting for the dim sum. They were long gone before our dim sum arrive. Waited nearly 40mins!!! Hahaha But it was okay. More time for the family to chit chat. Titbit @ RM3.00 each.

We were seated at a round table with very comfy chairs. It’s wise to make reservation during peak time.

Dried Scallop Dumpling with Spinach @ The Han Room, The Gardens, KL
Dried scallop dumpling with spinach @ RM8.00. Yum!

Imperial Har Kau @ The Han Room, The Gardens, KL
Imperial har kau @ RM9.00. The prawns were fresh and succulent. As good as those I had in Hong Kong. The skin were thin and yummy.

Siew Mai @ The Han Room, The Gardens, KL
Siew mai @ RM8.00. Delish!

Szechuan Dumpling @ The Han Room, The Gardens, KL
Szechuan dumpling @ RM9.00. Again the prawns were fleshy and fresh.

Prawn Dumpling In Superior Crab Soup @ The Han Room, The Gardens, KL
Prawn dumpling in superior crab soup @ RM10.00. I didn’t taste any crab flavor but the prawns were so juicy.

Loh Mai Kai @ The Han Room, The Gardens, KL
Loh mai kai @ RM8.00. The glutinous rice were soft and flavorful.

Steamed Cheong Fun With BBQ Meat @ The Han Room, The Gardens, KL
Steamed cheong fun with BBQ meat @ RM8.00. The cheong fun stock were place in a separate bowl. We add it in according to our preference. This one is very good. The BBQ pork meat were cooked to perfection with slight charred flavor.

Steamed Cheong Fun With Prawns @ The Han Room, The Gardens, KL
Steamed cheong fun with praws @ RM10.00. This is good too but unfortunately there were too little prawns. Each strips has only one prawn!!! How can? I demand more prawns since I’m paying a whopping RM10.00 for this.

Stir-Fried Radish Cake With Teochew Sauce & Baby French Bean @ The Han Room, The Gardens, KL
Stir-fried radish cake with Teochew sauce & baby french bean @ RM8.00. This was a miss. The radish cake were firm and I like mine soft. I’ve no idea why they include french bean in there. So weird.

Porridge With Clams, Mussels & Yam @ The Han Room, The Gardens, KL
Porridge with clams, mussels & yam @ RM12.00. One of the best porridge I’ve eaten. The porridge were so smooth and fine. It’s no wonder they were sold out fast. We ordered another porridge with fish fillet but were sold out. The bowl is pretty big. Enough for two or three people but of course we shared among five of us.

Steamed Rice With Mushroom & Pine Nut @ The Han Room, The Gardens, KL
Steamed rice with mushroom & pine nut @ RM14.00. This was surprisingly good. Love the combination of mushroom and pine nuts.

Deep Fried Yam Puff @ The Han Room, The Gardens, KL
Deep fried yam puff / wu kok @ RM7.00. Another miss. I dislike the hardened outer layer. It’s usually light and crunchy but these were hard and crunchy. I also didn’t like the fillings. The char siew were weak.

Sweetened Almond Soup @ The Han Room, The Gardens, KL
Finally it was another long wait before our dessert arrived. Sweetened almond soup @ RM8.00. Smooth and fragrant… although I’m not a big fan of almond soup.

Overall, the dim sum at The Han Room were superb although there were a couple of misses. Indeed this is better than Tim Ho Wan (Malaysia). I love the atmosphere and the friendly staffs. Tell you what, one of the staff sweetly smiled at me twice. Haha She’s a middle-age lady. If you’re there during busy hour, the place can be quite noisy and also food take quite awhile to arrive. But it’s okay for me because the delicious food made up for it.

Price wise, yes it’s definitely not cheap. But it’s on par with its quality so it’s worth it. I’ll certainly dine there again but next time I’ll sample their oriental dishes.
